Isolation is one of the first consequences of domestic abuse. On account of feelings of shame and fear of discredit, and seeing the effect of violence in their close circle, women undergoing abuse start distancing themselves and end up isolated.
Isolation is one of the strategies of the abuser to stop their partners from finding support networks, thus perpetuating the pattern of abuse, control, submission and fear. In any field of life, being part of a network enables us to experience the company of others, to protect and feel protected, to know we are not alone. Through networks, we can cooperate and find solutions for common problems.
With Red x Todas, victims of gender-based abuse and their close circle can build up a support network and avoid isolation.
We have developed a new device for victims of abuse.
RED X TODAS is a free mobile app offering technological aid to victims of abuse.
Developing the app was possible thanks to our work with Magnetis and the committed contributions of Civinext and Menos es Más.
Through the app, users can set up a help network with 3 contacts of their trust. Faced with a violent situation, by simply pressing a key, the app sends an alert message at every minute to the designated contacts with the victim’s geolocation. Simultaneously, the app makes an automatic phone call to 101, the pre-set emergency number.

YOU CAN SET A HELP NETWORK WITH UP TO 3 CONTACTS

WITH A DANGER NOTICE, YOU WILL RECEIVE MESSAGES WITH YOUR LOCATION UPDATED EVERY MINUTE

AN AUTOMATIC CALL TO 101 (Police) IS MADE IN TURN TO ALERT ABOUT THE SITUATION.

YOU CAN ACCESS TO UPDATE CONTENT, ADVICE AND SPECIALIZED AID CENTERS DATA

AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE

»Let your contacts know you selected them, explain them your situation and how the app works.
»Make sure the phone battery is always charged. To the extent possible, keep credit in it.
»Delete from your phone the text messages sent to your contacts during alert episodes.
»Choose a password that is easy to remember and, in turn, difficult to guess. For instance, do not choose your or the children’s birth dates.
»Create a direct access to the app on your mobile homescreen and change its name so that it can not be easily detected.
»During installation, the app will request access to your location, calls and SMS messages. These permissions will act only when the alarm is activated, so that the app can send alert messages with your location and contact 101.
»When you activate the alarm, the app automatically calls 101 in speaker-mode. Please bear this in mind and, if necessary, deactivate the speaker-mode option from your phone when the call takes place.
»Red x Todas will never send any information to you via email. The email address you provide during installation serves only user registration purposes.
»We recommend that one of the contacts you select live near your house. If you are at home in an emergency situation, this person can get to your house rapidly.
We developed the RED X TODAS APP together with Magnetis and with the contribution Civinext in technological development and Less is More, in identity design. The project had financial support from the Ministry of Strengthening of the City of Buenos Aires.
