We want to encourage those women who are going through a situation of gender violence to identify it and take the first step towards exiting violence, highlighting the decisive role that institutions can play in this task. With this objective in mind, we developed the “I opened the exit door” campaign, which consists of holding a prevention talk, and placing the self-adhesive pieces on the doors of the women's bathrooms and other visible doors of the spaces that get involved.
Why on the bathroom doors?
Because the bathroom represents a place of privacy, which provides enough privacy to think about the possibility of asking for help and taking note of the contact information.
Through this campaign each institution has the opportunity to get closer to its community by providing a clear message of commitment to this problem.
Prevention talk coordinated by members of the Shalom Bait team.
We provide information on gender-based violence, warning signs, recommendations on how to adequately accompany women victims of violence, and we share resources and experiences.
Placement of stickers at the end of the talk, together with the participants, the stickers of the campaign are placed on the doors of the women's bathrooms and other visible doors.
Together we help more women find a way out of gender violence.
We launched "Open the exit door" in 2019, within the framework of the 16 days of activism proposed by the UN, between 11/25, International Day for the Elimination of Gender-based Violence, and 12/10, Human Rights International.
Every year we take it up again with the hope that more and more of us commit ourselves to the fight against gender violence.
