This March 8 is the International Women's Strike that takes place for the third consecutive time, and is the continuity of past and present experiences of the fight for our rights and for the elimination of violence and discrimination that we suffer every day.

During 2018, until November, there were 260 femicides in our country. In 90% of these cases, the aggressor belonged to the victim's inner circle, mostly the partner or ex-partner. The year was marked by the demand for legal, safe and free abortion, supported internationally. In December, Thelma Fardin's complaint against Juan Darthés for sexual abuse, made visible a stark reality: sexual abuse in childhood, so frequent and so little reported, that damages the physical and emotional health of thousands of girls, boys and adolescents a year after year.

However, the budget for the elimination of gender-based violence decreases: the planned amount is equivalent to $ 11.36 per woman and implies a retraction of 18% with respect to the one assigned in 2018. Also the funds allocated to monitoring the National Plan of Action decreased from 50 million to 32.

The fight for our freedom did not end when we acquired the right to vote, nor when we entered the universities or the labor market. If we do not [stand] in the face of the violence we suffer for the simple fact of being women and what the patriarchal and sexist society has decided to do with our lives, our bodies, our decisions, nothing will change.
