This year we share with you a prayer proposed by the Shalom Bayit Program in Atlanta, Georgia to introduce the issue of gender violence in our festivities.<\/em><\/p><p>_________<\/p><p>By including this prayer, we begin to recognize the pain that many women and children feel; By saying it out loud, we begin to eliminate the myth that it doesn't exist; and by taking it to our hearts, we begin our individual journeys toward ending violence.<\/p><p>\u201cEvery year at this time, it is our responsibility to look at ourselves as if we really came out of Egypt.<\/p><p>The fight for freedom continues and in all ages there are new freedoms to win. Tonight our hearts turn to those who suffer the pain of living in a house where peace has been shattered. Let us confront this violence and unite in the effort to liberate those who suffer it.<\/p><p>There are boys and girls who are sexually, physically and \/ or verbally abused; there are women who live in terror of their partners; there are elderly people who are ignored or imprisoned in their own homes. Tonight, when we celebrate the miracle of liberation, it is up to us to understand the meaning of these slavery; listen to their cries and help them in their fight for freedom.<\/p><p>Some of us at this table are survivors; Others of us know survivors and victims of violence.
